Puerto Rican NYC

Puerto Rican NYC is centered in El Barrio in East Harlem, Loisada in the Lower East Side, and the South Bronx. Much of New York City's Latin flavor has been Puerto Rican since the "Great Migration" of the 1950s.

"Latin music" is Cuban music developed in New York City's Puerto Rican communities and then popularized around the world as Salsa in the 1970s.

Hamilton, the most influential Broadway show in years, is by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the son of Puerto Rican New Yorkers.
