This is the 4th Carnegie Hall Juneteenth Celebration.

Get free tickets at the Carnegie Hall Box Office starting Fri, Jun 10, 2022 at 11am. Even if you reserve tickets, they must be picked up at the Carnegie Hall Box Office by Fri, Jun 17, 2022.

Theme

This year’s theme is “All American Freedom Day: Reimagining Togetherness.”

Notice that this is not about any one race. This is for all Americans to come together, to embrace our common history, and reimagine a better future together.

This is the never-ending grace of African American communities.

Honorees

Poet Sonia Sanchez is an author of over 20 books.

Community activist Opal Lee is known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth.” She is the oldest member of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation that advocated for the national holiday. At 90 years young, Ms. Lee walked from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington D.C. to raise Juneteenth awareness.

Performers

Broadway actor David Allen Grier is the 2022 Master of Ceremony.

Playwright Mahogany L. Browne, and Lincoln Center’s first poet-in-residence is a presenter.

  • Forces of Nature Dance Theatre, led by Abdel R. Salaam, promotes African Diaspora dance traditions in New York City.
