NYC Homecoming Week celebrates the resilience of the greatest city on Earth. It includes concerts, movie screenings, cultural activities, NYC Restaurant Week and Summer Streets. Many of the events are free.

New York City birthed modern jazz (bebop), Latin jazz (cubop), salsa and hip-hop. America’s film industry started here. We are America’s fashion capital and leading dining destination. We are the world’s art capital, financial capital, and media capital.

We are also the world capital of Latin culture. New York City has been Latin since the very first immigrant Juan Rodríguez arrived from Santo Domingo on a Dutch ship in 1613. That was even before Dutch New Amsterdam. We have a lot to celebrate and New York City is at its best when we celebrate each other.

Homecoming Week highlights include the It’s Time for Hip-hop in NYC free concert series. The celebration peaks with the We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert on Central Park’s Great Lawn. It’s going to be NYC’s Woodstock.

The Puppet Fringe NYC festival of international puppetry is at The Clemente in the Lower East Side live through August 15 and virtual through August 31, 2021. Free and paid events

The Battery Dance Festival is virtual through Saturday, August 15 and live at Robert F. Wagner Park in Battery Park City through Friday, August 20, 2021. FREE

Summer Streets NYC is on Manhattan’s East Side on Park Avenue/Lafayette/Centre St from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 7am – 1pm. FREE

The Queensboro Dance Festival is at Travers Park in Jackson Heights, Queens on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2pm. FREE

The Queensboro Dance Festival is at Windmuller Park in Woodside, Queens on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 6pm. FREE

The It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC: The Bronx concert is at Orchard Beach in Pelham Bay Park, The Bronx on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 3pm. FREE

The It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC: Staten Island concert is at Midland Beach in Staten Island on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 4pm. FREE

The BAAND Together Dance Festival of five iconic NYC dance companies is in Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center, Tuesday-Sunday, August 17-21, 2021 with $1 workshops at 4pm and performances at 7:30pm. FREE
