New York Latin House Music

New York Latin house music is mostly at clubs in Brooklyn and summer music festivals. The scene mostly left Manhattan because space is just too expensive and The City has become too civilized. East Williamsburg and Bushwick, Brooklyn seem to be the land of House these days.

It all began in a Chicago warehouse spun by New York DJ Frankie Knuckles (1955-2014). House Music picked up where Disco Music left off. Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” (1977) with Italian Giorgio Moroder, the father of Disco and EDM, was the bridge and the template.

Those were the good old days. House Music evolved into the EDM Electronic Dance Music category which includes House, Techno, Garage, Electro, Drum ‘n’ Bass, and probably some other names we’ll all hear about soon.

New York has many great DJs. Of course, some House Music legends, like Louie Vega, are Latin. We love to dance. It’s cultural.
