29 Students awarded 2018 Dominican Day Parade Scholarships

Twenty-nine exceptional students with a Dominican heritage were awarded 2018 Dominican Day Parade scholarships in a ceremony titled, “Our Future, Our Youth” at the Wildlife  Conservation Society in the Bronx Zoo on February 22, 2018.

“Our Future, Our Youth”

The students were selected after a nationwide competition. Luis Gerardo Núñez anchor for Telemundo 47’s noon news was master of ceremonies. Three-time Major League Baseball All-Star Francisco “Coco” Cordero encouraged students to work tirelessly to achieve their dreams.

“This year’s applicants surpassed our expectation,” said Scholarship Committee Co-Chair Ramona Hernandez, Ph.D. “Their essays are a testament to the Dominican legacy we want to uphold and instill for generations to come.”

Education is the key to success in American society. In the last three years, the Dominican Day Parade has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships.
