“Roba La Gallina” is a popular Dominican carnival character. When the Dominican Republic was ruled by Haiti, anyone caught stealing chickens was tarred and feathered. Now we make fun of it.

The character is usually a man dressed as a woman with exaggerated body parts and an umbrella. She she often carries a bag filled with candy for children. We love her.

Roba la Gallina sings, “ti-ti manatí, ton ton, molondrón, roba la gallina, palo con ella!
