Eduardo Vilaro is the Cuba-born Artistic Director and CEO of Ballet Hispanico, America’s leading Latino dance company.
Vilaro is Ballet Hispanico’s second leader after founder Tina Ramirez. Vilaro became Artistic Director in 2009.
Vilaro was a founder of Chicago’s Luna Negra, a dance company that celebrated the diversity of Latino culture across the Midwest. Vilaro choreographed over 20 ballets for Luna Negra.
Vilaro has an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College of Chicago (1999). He earned a BFA in dance at Adelphi University.
A role in a school musical in The Bronx started Vilaro on his journey into dance.
2017 Hombre Men of the Year
Vilaro was recognized as 2017 Hombre magazine Arts & Culture Pioneer.
