Vintage Masters at Throckmorton Fine Art from November 19, 2015 – January 9, 2016 is an exhibition of iconic photographs from 1853 to 1996.
Throckmorton shows the deep global dimensions of his collection. This exhibition of early masters from Europe, America, and Latin America is a must-see for collectors, art lovers, and students alike. You can see how the great artists influenced each other.

Throckmorton surprises again. The directors are very low key so Throckmorton seems to be a little gallery. In fact, Throckmorton is one of the world-class collections of Vintage photography, Pre-Columbian art, Chinese jades, and Tribal art.
Throckmorton is beginning to mine the depths of their collection. In our first look, we were surprised at how much beautiful history is in this exhibition. There are many rare photographs with stories behind them.
There are the first pictures of the Mayan temples at Chichen Itza while they were still buried in dirt mounds. There is a famous photo of Che Guevara taken for an interview.
There is an Edward Weston portrait of his lover, the Italian photographer Tina Modotti. He gave to Modotti as a moment. She later gave to another of her lovers. Weston and Modotti are some of the keys that unlocked the brilliance of the Latin American photographers.
There is a rare Manuel Álvarez Bravo of the woman washing her hair. Another photo is of a famous Cuban revolutionary who died young.
This is truly a collector’s exhibition.
