About Hudson Yards
In addition to residential, commercial and office space, the new development includes:
- The Shops mall
- The Shed performing arts center
- The Vessel selfie spot
- The Edge skyline viewing platform
When it was being built, we wondered what on earth The Vessel was for. This circular stairway to nowhere is a New York style selfie-spot (it’s big). As of March 2022, it is temporarily closed.
On the right you can see The Shed performing arts center with its movable roof.
Behind The Vessel, you can see The Shops mall. It has a lot of high end retailers.
Mercado Little Spain is in The Shops’ basement. It’s a wonderful collection of Spanish markets, restaurants and bars by renowned Spanish Chef José Andrés and the Adría Brothers.
There is great lechon, paella, pulpo, sardinas, pastries and other Spanish delicacies that you won’t find anywhere else in NYC, quite like this. The presentation is extraordinary. It feels like a high-end market in the Latin world. Watching the chefs work is exciting for foodies. Your mouth waters just from walking around. It’s also a great date spot.
Leña is a delicious restaurant. Its speciality is fire grilled Basque and Asturian dishes from Northern Spain.
