New York City Ballet Fall 2016 Season
The season’s theme is “There is Only Now,” a quote by George Balanchine.
Fall Gala
New York City Ballet opens its Fall 2016 Season at the David H. Koch Theater with a Fall Gala on September 20, 2016 at 7pm. The Fall Gala includes world premieres by Lauren Lovette, Justin Peck, Peter Walker, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa (Colombian-Belgian).
Lauren Lovette is NYCB’s newest female principal. This is her first choreography for NYCB.
Justin Peck is NYCB’s Resident Choreographer.
Corps de Ballet Member Peter Walker moves from choreographing social media videos to the stage.
Annabelle Lopez Ochoa is an international choreographer based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She is half-Colombian and half-Belgian.
Balanchine Black & White: All Stravinsky
The season premiere of the “Balanchine Black & White: All Stravinsky” is Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 7:30pm. Black & White costuming is one of Balanchine’s signatures.
The program includes “Stravinsky Violin Concerto,” “Monumentum pro Gesualdo,” “Movements for Piano and Orchestra,” and “Duo Concertant.” Argentine Principal Ana Sophia Scheller dances in “Symphony in Three Movements.”
