The West Indian Day Parade, Labor Day Carnival or New York Carnival is a Carnival festival that peaks over Labor Day Weekend in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Most revelers focus on Carnival weekend, but this is full Carnival in the Trinidadian tradition. That’s pretty cool because Trinidad Carnival is the mother of Caribbean Carnival. Preparations start six months in advance, get busy a month ahead and the party gets going a full week ahead.
