Chelsea Factory is a performing arts space in Chelsea, Manhattan whose focus is presenting historically excluded New York City-based artists. Isn’t our City great?
The 1914 building was originally a taxi garage. In the 1990s, legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz (Vanity Fair) made it her studio. The neighborhood was still wild then. In 2005, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet made the building their home. It became an event space in 2015.
During the pandemic, the space was reimagined as Chelsea Factory. The Presenting Partners are a who’s who of strong New York City presenters. They include Harlem Stage, Joyce Theater, Juilliard, National Sawdust, National Black Theater and New Victory Theater.
