The Winter Show (formerly the Winter Antiques Show) is America’s biggest antiques fair. The art is interesting. The dealers are knowledgable and friendly. The people-watching is great.
There are usually 50-100 international dealers showing over 5,000 years of fine art, decorations and jewelry. Most of it is very high-end. You can find pedigreed suits of armor, preColumbian art and the property of royal families. The strangest thing we’ve ever seen was a real chastity belt. It had teeth and just wearing it would hurt you. Aren’t you glad you don’t live in ancient times?
The Winter Show is a benefit for East Side House Settlement (1891), a community service organization that currently serves families in Mott Haven, The Bronx. It serves over 14,000 children and families every year. eastsidehouse.org
