Every Puerto Rican on the island who can afford the journey, travels to Old San Juan for Puerto Rico’s biggest party, a patron saint festival (local Carnival) for Saint Sebastian, the early Christian martyr.
If there is one thing we know how to do, it’s have a party. Come celebrate life and the new year with us.
You’ll see Puerto Rican carnival characters like the Vejigantes in the photo. There will be lots of bomba and plena, the folk music and dance of Puerto Rico. Basically, we eat, drink, sing and dance with family and friends for several days.
It’s really a unique experience.
Puerto Rico has the world’s longest Christmas holidays celebration. We celebrate from Discovery Day on November 19, through Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas, New Year’s, Three Kings, and Las Octavitas. The holiday season ends with Las Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian. Then we go back to work.
