The Afropunk Brooklyn music festival is at Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, Saturday – Sunday, August 25-26, 2018.

The Afropunk After Dark party is at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11 pm.

Afropunk

It all started with Black punkers. Can you imagine that? A few Black kids slamming in a sea of raging white skinhead punks? That’s crazy, but somehow it worked.

Afropunk has grown since 2005 into a series of music festivals and a social movement overflowing with music, art, fashion, culture and various expressions of freedom around the world in Brooklyn, Atlanta, London, Paris and Johannesburg, South Africa.

Afropunk is about the freedom to be who you are, and be loved for it.

Afropunk Brooklyn 2018

Afropunk has an impressive lineup every year, but the real stars of the show are in the audience. The kids show just how bright color can be on a black canvas.

Whether you are Black, White or anything in between, doesn’t really matter. It’s all about style and universal respect. There is way more natural style at Afropunk than at any fashion week.

Afropunk for President!
(because then we would have a country for all people)
