Alberto Burri was an important Italian Post-War and Contemporary artist. He saw his the value of his work in the composition of cheap industrial materials. Burri is most famous for his work with melted plastic sheets.
Burri was born in Città di Castello, Italy on March 12, 1915.
Burri became a medical doctor. World War II got him captured and sent to Texas as a prisoner of war. There he began to paint.
Burri went over the top when he won the UNESCO Prize at the 1959 São Paulo Biennal and the Critics’ Prize at the 1960 Venice Biennale.
