The Festival started all the way back in 1998. Oy vey! A 25th anniversary is a big deal. This edition features around 150 premieres. You can see from the many Latin flags that this is a very international film festival, a reflection of Brooklyn itself.

Unthinkable

This year’s theme, “Unthinkable,” is about the polarization in American society. When truth is buried by all sorts of unrealities designed to stir emotions with no regard for the consequences, filmmakers have a greater responsibility to focus on the truth.

If Americans lose our shared truth, what are we?

18th KidsFilmFest

The 18th KidsFilmFest is online during the Brooklyn Film Festival and in person at Windmill Studios on Sat, Jun 4 at 1pm. There are two programs, one for ages 3-7 and another for ages 8-15.

Life has changed so much in our lifetimes that it’s sometimes hard to know how to parent. Cinema creates opportunities to explore with our children, what it’s like growing up American today.
