This year’s festival focuses on stories about life and those who live it, or more succinctly “human times.” Pretty much everyone walking around Brooklyn qualifies for that. Manhattan is dead. Long live Brooklyn!

And Brooklynites are busy. Out of 155 features, there are 44 world premieres, many other debuts, and a kids filmfest.

The opening night film is “Forgive Me Father” by James Biberi starring Aida Turturro.

Latin films include “Black Moon” by Tonatiuh Garcia. The synopsis is: “The story of three siblings and the rebellion of a town to defend a river. An unexpected piece of news forces them to make decisions that will change their destinies forever- because what flows can be as appeasing as it is implacable.” 🇲🇽

There are also Argentine, Brazilian, Congolese, French, Indian, Israeli, Italian, Kenyan, Portuguese, Saint Lucian, and Spanish films.

The Brooklyn Film Festival 2023 is at Windmill Studios in Greenpoint and the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg; from June 2-11, 2023. brooklynfilmfestival.org 🇦🇷 🇧🇷 🇨🇩 🇨🇬 🇫🇷 🇮🇳 🇮🇱 🇮🇹 🇰🇪 🇲🇽 🇵🇹 🇱🇨 🇪🇸
