José Parla
José Parla is a Cuban-American abstract painter born in Miami, Florida in 1973. He is known for his graffiti-inspired paintings. They look like the layers on a graffiti wall, or the torn off layers of posters on subway station advertising.
Parla’s work is somewhere between Abstract Expressionism, Cy Twombly’s scribbles, and graffiti art.
Parla’s major commissions include ONE: Union of the Senses, commissioned by One World Trade Center, New York City, and Diary of Brooklyn, commissioned by Barclays Center, New York City.
José Parla lives and works in Brooklyn.
Pepa Prieto
Pepa Prieto is a Spanish-American abstract painter who was born in Granada, Spain in 1973.
She earned an MFA in Painting from University Complutense in Madrid, Spain in 1999. After, Prieto studied Mixed Media at Central Saint Martins College in London, U.K.
Prieto has done residencies at the Fountainhead Residency in Miami, 2010 and the CCA Andratx, Mallorca, 2012 and 2016.
She has had museum exhibitions at the Torrance Art Museum, California (2016), History Museum in Zaragoza, Spain (2012), National Gallery in Amman, Jordan (2011).
Pepa Prieto lives and works in Brooklyn.
