“El Accidente Feliz” (The Happy Accident), Paloma Suau’s documentary about Puerto Rican artist Antonio Martorell, screens as part of Bronx Film Wednesdays (BxFW) at Pregones/PRTT in Concourse, The Bronx on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 7pm.
After the screening, Antonio Martorell and Paloma Suau will join in conversation with Louis E. Perego Moreno (Tío Louie) of Prime Latino Media.

Antonio Martorell is a Puerto Rican artist and media personality from Santurce, Puerto Rico. He found his way into the arts by doing stage design for Plácido Domingo’s opera “Celebración Verdiana” in 2001.
Suau grew up with Martorell’s art. She filmed him for years and put everything in boxes. When she returned from film school wanting to develop the film, the boxes had disappeared. [Puerto Rico is one corner of the Bermuda Triangle after all.] Martorell’s response was, “That doesn’t matter, what a good excuse to start over!”
There is something here for all of us. These are the kinds of things that happen when an artist is truly ready to enter el camino, their road, their journey.
Happy accidents don’t seem so happy when they are happening, but looking back, it’s easier to see, and easier to laugh about the happy accidents of life. At some point on the journey, you may realize that there are no accidents in life.
