The exhibition Eugenio Merino Here Died Warhol is at UNIX Gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan from April 26 – June 9, 2018.
The exhibition of a life-like sculpture of Andy Warhol’s body on a granite gravestone considers the way tourism takes over a place by creating artificial “real” experiences.
Take a selfie with Andy and maybe you will be famous for fifteen minutes.
This is Merino’s fourth solo exhibition with UNIX Gallery.
Here Died Warhol is a contextual event for New York that mirrors the artist’s Aquí Murió Picasso (Here Died Picasso). That exhibition at Alliance Française in Málaga, Spain in 2017 itself became a tourist attraction in the Mediterranean coastal town.
