WMI’s storied Flamenco dance series returns with four entrancing evenings that range from cutting-edge to traditional.

Festival Ay! Más Flamenco world-class dance featuring the avant-garde flair of Quebec’s La Otra Orilla, the purity of Spain’s eminent solo traditionalists La Lupi and Joaquin Grilo, and the exciting and renowned dancer-singer duo of wife-and-husband Sonia Olla and Ismael Fernández.


La Otra Orilla

Today Flamenco is global. This is French Canadian Flamenco, a Contemporary Flamenco from Montréal’s rebellious and subversive iconoclasts. It has that French quirkiness.

Joaquin Grilo

Joaquin Grilo (Jerez, Spain near Seville) is simply one of today’s best male flamenco dancers. Grilo’s performance is dedicated to his friend and teacher Paco De Lucia, with whom he toured for many years.

Tablao Sevilla: Sonia Olla & Ismael Fernández VIP Closing Event

The husband and wife team of traditional flamenco dancer Sonia Olla & Ismael Fernández take Flamenco off the stage with an intimate performance in a more traditional social setting.

Sonia just choreographed Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour (2015). How’s that for tradition influencing Pop? Complimentary Sangria, Spanish Beer, and Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

La Nacional is a private Spanish social club in New York City that was founded in 1868. It is about all that is left of a block that used to be “Little Spain,” Manhattan’s Spanish-American community. La Nacional has Flamenco shows every Saturday night and NYC’s most traditional Argentine Tango milonga on Thursday nights.
