Francisco Ugarte is a Mexican artist based in Guadalajara.
His solo exhibition Three Lines, One Square is at Cristin Tierney New York June 1 – July 7, 2017.
These paintings look like simple minimalist brushworks with an Asian flavor. They are actually finely detailed paintings of acrylic brushworks. Ugarte seems to have taken the still lifes of Claudio Bravo to a minimalist extreme.

Ugarte has a BA in Architecture from the Western Institute of Superior and Technological Studies (Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara), a Jesuit university in Guadalajara.

Ugarte has had solo exhibitions at Marfa Contemporary (Texas), the Clemente Orozco Museum (Guadalajara), and the Experimental Museum El Eco in Mexico City.
