Argentine British American actress Anya Taylor-Joy wins at the Golden Globes

The 78th Golden Globes Awards 2021 were on NBC on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 8pm ET.

The ceremony is normally held in January, but was delayed while everyone adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Film awards are great fun for their red carpet presentations, acceptance speeches, for discovering the year’s best films and usually a few great movies you didn’t know about.

Argentine British American actress Anya Taylor-Joy 🇦🇷 won Best Actress in a Series, Limited-Series or TV Movie for her work on the Netflix television hit “The Queen’s Gambit.” She was also nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for her starring role in “Emma.”

Norman Lear received the Carol Burnett Award. He is the legendary producer of many hit TV series of the 1970s including: “All in the Family,” “Sanford and Son,” “One Day at a Time,” “The Jeffersons,” “Good Times” and “Maude.” He was the great storyteller of the 1970s. We grew up with him.

Golden Globes 2021 Nominees

Nominations were announced on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Only three were Latinos.

Argentine British American actress Anya Taylor-Joy 🇦🇷 earned nominations for two performances. She was nominated Best Actress in a Series, Limited-Series or TV Movie for her work on Netflix television hit “The Queen’s Gambit.” She was also nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for her starring role in “Emma.”

New York Puerto Rican Lin-Manuel Miranda 🇵🇷 was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for starting in Hamilton, the Broadway cast film.

La Llorona” by Guatemalan filmmaker Jayro Bustamante 🇬🇹 was nominated for Best Foreign Language film.

Hollywood Foreign Press Association

The awards, by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, have recognized excellence in international film and American television since 1944. It is one of the strongest early hints of films and actors who might win Oscars at the Academy Awards.
