Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are the stars of New York City’s U.S. Independence Day celebrations.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement, Macy’s reimagines this year’s display as a series of unannounced popups in every New York City borough. The fireworks started Monday, June 29. Thank you Macy’s for your spirit of inclusion.

A fireworks show will be broadcast live on NBC on Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 8-10pm ET.

Fireworks are Chinese Invention

Modern fireworks were developed in China during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). They are used in festivals to chase away bad energy and bring good luck. Thank you China.
