Macy’s Christmas windows are a New York holiday tradition.

Broadway Windows

This year’s theme is “Believe the Wonder.” Six Broadway window displays take you on a magical journey with “Santa Girl.”

Window #1: Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from her bedroom, Santa Girl wishes she was Santa.

Window #2: A jolly Santa and a colorful Christmas tree light up the window.

Window #3: Santa Girl’s golden retriever Willow is dreaming of Christmas too.

Window #4: Santa Claus arrives at Santa Girl’s house with a state-of-the-art sleigh-truck.

Window #5: Help Santa give out gifts to the neighbors in this interactive window.

Window #6: Now that you’re ready for the holidays, take your picture as Santa in this interactive window.

There are more Macy’s Christmas windows at Macy’s Downtown Brooklyn on Fulton Street.

Macy’s started the Christmas window tradition in 1874, and started animating them in 1899.

As many as 10,000 people per hour visit the Herald Square windows.

It takes a team of 200 of Santa’s helpers an entire year to design the windows and three weeks to install them.
