Myriam Phiro is a New York-based, French-Canadian actress and cabaret singer. She channels the smokey glamour of legendary French chanteuse Édith Piaf.

Spending an evening listening to Phiro will make you want to return home to France. J’adore!

Myriam Phiro

Phiro is obsessed with legendary French chanteuse Édith Piaf (La Vie en Rose). As all New Yorkers know, if you’re not obsessed about what you do, you can’t make it here. But if you are, you can make it…

Phiro is awesome. She recreates the smokey le hot club glamour of 1930s Pigalle (the red-light district of Paris). It was a special time, the beginning of something and the end of something. Nothing feels more French than a chanteuse, maybe a good kiss, but nothing more.

Myriam has sold out New York City’s most legendary jazz clubs including the Rainbow Room, 54 Below, Birdland and the Iridium. She has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Montreal’s International Jazz Festival.

The singer also leads Mariposa, an all-female jazz band.

Édith Piaf

I used to dance tango argentin in Belleville, Paris where Piaf was born. The spot is two cement steps on a hilly street. There’s a good late-night kebab restaurant at the bottom of the hill. I can see it now.

From that beginning, she made it to the top of the world in a time when women were only supposed to cook and clean. She did whatever she wanted in life. Piaf was pure passion. That’s why we love her. Even if you’re not French, you know her songs, they’re so famous.

Piaf left us in 1963. It’s been reported that her last words were “Every damn thing you do in this life, you have to pay for.” I’d pay to go see Phiro.

“Quand il me prend dans ses bras
Qu’il me parle tout bas
Je vois la vie en rose.”

[I’m so homesick now.]
