Puerto Rican art is different from European art. Puerto Rican artisanal crafts are not just pretty. They both reflect and are a living part of Puerto Rican culture.

Some of these are pure craft, but some are more than that. In Indigenous Taíno tradition, we don’t make visual art, we craft living spiritual entities. The creators breathe life force into them.

At the National Puerto Rican Artisans Fair & Book Expo you can find Puerto Rican santos de palo wooden carvings of saints, all sorts of Three Kings, vejigante masks (a favorite Puerto Rican carnival character), and beautiful home decorations.

The National Puerto Rican Artisans Fair & Book Expo 2021 fair is co-produced by Comité Noviembre and PRIDA, the Puerto Rican Institute for the Development of the Arts.
