“Gracias a la vida…” begins one popular song composed by a Latin American woman, but there are so many.

Soprano María Valdés and baritone Efraín Solís, of the San Francisco Opera, make their New York City debuts. singing the work of composers like María Grever (Mexico), Violeta Parra (Chile), Odaline de la Martínez (Cuba), Ernestina Lecuona (Cuba), Chabuca Granda (Peru), Susana Baca (Peru), Joyce Morena (Brazil), and Beatriz Lockhart (Venezuela).

The New York Festival of Song is produced by pianists Steven Blier and Michael Barrett. Percussionist Leonardo Granados and a guitarist round out the ensemble.
