The New York Film Festival at Film at Lincoln Center is one of the big U.S. film festivals. It’s also the second oldest film festival in the United States.

The 56th New York Film Festival is at Alice Tully Hall and Film Society of Lincoln Center, September 28 – October 14, 2018.

The New York Film Festival is a well-rounded festival with something for everyone.
Opening Night
The Favorite (2018) by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos stars Rachel Weisz, Emma Stone and Olivia Colman as the Duchess of Marlborough, her servant and Queen Anne battling for dominance in 18th century England during the War of Spanish Succession (1701 – 1714).
The film screens on Friday, September 28. The 6 pm & 9 pm screenings in Alice Tully Hall will be attended by the director and cast members.
Centerpiece
ROMA (2018), by Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón, is an autobiographically-inspired, cinematographer’s dream about a live-in nanny who holds together a middle-class family in 1970s Mexico City. This is the big Latin film. It’s a Netflix release.

Closing Night
At Eternity’s Gate (2018) by Jewish artist Julian Schnabel, tells the story of the last days of Vincent van Gogh, starring Willem Dafoe.
