The 7th International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival (IPRHFF) is Wednesday – Sunday, November 8 – 12, 2017.
This year’s festival adopts Mexico as a guest country. Both Puerto Rican and Mexican films are being screened.

Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival Opening Night
The IPRHFF opens with a red carpet at the Cinépolis Theater in Chelsea, Manhattan Wednesday, November 8 at 6:30 pm. $15
Academy Award-nominated Puerto Rican director Jacobo Morales (Lo que le pasó a Santiago, 1989) will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Hispanic Federation will receive a Humanitarian Award.
Broche de Oro: Comienzos
Raúl Marchand’s 2017 comedy is the opening night selection.
SYNOPSIS: Rafael, Pablo and Anselmo meet at an elders’ home. Their friendship grows based on their sense of humor and will to live. Life at the home can be sad. With their typical wit, they recruit other residents, particularly a trio they call The Greeks, to challenge rules and go into a contest for a prize. Because there are no rules for growing old, Broche de oro: Comienzos celebrates life and reminds us to live it to the fullest until the end.

A chronological journey through the history of puppet theater in Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic that brings to life the work of many of the region’s prominent puppet masters.
Manuel A. Morán is the director of Teatro SEA, New York City’s Latino children’s theater.
The screening is followed by a Q&A and the festival closing ceremony.
