Rendez-Vous with French Cinema 2017

Rendez-Vous with French Cinema at Film Society of Lincoln Center is an annual festival of contemporary French film co-presented with Unifrance Films.

22nd annual Rendez-Vous with French Cinema 2017

The 22nd annual Rendez-Vous with French Cinema is March 1-12, 2017.

Opening night is the North American Premiere of Étienne Comar’s 2017 French film Django, a movie for our time.

Other movies of interest to Latin culture lovers are The Dancer, a Belle Époque Paris story about American-born modern dance icon Loie Fuller; and The Paris Opera a behind the scenes documentary.

Django

In 1943 Paris, the Nazis who denounced French Gypsy Jazz guitar legend Django Reinhardt as a degenerate. Though he is forced to flee for his life, Django keeps making music as a personal form of protest.

This is a French story, but it is not only for the French. In times like these, we the people have to stand up. May we all be so courageous.

The Dancer

Who wouldn’t want to dance their way through Belle Époque Paris? Like the real Loie Fuller, you’ll have to compete with Isadora Duncan. Visually rich with strong performances.

The Paris Opera

Put the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Ballet together and you can imagine the amount of drama that goes on behind the scenes at one of the world’s premier Opera Ballet companies.
