The Brooklyn Museum celebrates the 100th anniversary of Auguste Rodin’s death with Rodin at the Brooklyn Museum: The Body in Bronze on view Friday, November 17, 2017 – April 22, 2018.

Auguste Rodin (French 1840 – 1917) is the father of modern sculpture. He was one of the greatest artists of his era.
In the same way that Impressionists moved to capture the light and feeling of their real world subjects, Rodin captured the emotions of his subjects through the play of light and shadow on roughly textured surfaces.
The exhibition uses the Brooklyn Museum’s 58 Rodin bronzes to highlight the tension between the figure and abstraction. This is the exact gap where Rodin worked.
Rodin at the Brooklyn Museum: The Body in Bronze is organized by Lisa Small, the Museum’s Senior Curator of European Art. It is part of Rodin100, a worldwide series of major Rodin exhibitions in 2017 commemorating the centennial of Rodin’s death.
Rodin at the Met is also part of the Rodin100 celebration.
