Three Kings Day at Teatro SEA, Latino theatre for young audiences in the Lower East Side, is normally a free event where children can meet the Three Kings and receive a gift. But the Latin equivalent of visiting Santa is going to be different this year.

To keep New Yorker’s safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, Teatro SEA’s 2021 Three Kings Day celebration goes virtual at Teatro SEA’s Facebook page on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Instead of giving gifts directly to children this year, Teatro SEA is donating gifts to Lower East Side schools and community organizations.

For the 20th Anniversary celebration, Teatro SEA decided to recognize the Three Queens. Why not? We come from strong female leadership traditions in both Indigenous Africa and the Indigenous Caribbean.

The 3 Queens are:

We all know it’s been a hard year for New Yorkers and for our own Latin/Black communities in particular. But it’s important to carry on our traditions.

Three Kings Day at Teatro SEA (TS)

One of our most precious Three Kings Day memories is of a little girl holding the doll the Three Kings gave her on Three Kings Day. It was a simple thing and may have been the only gift she received, but it was the most precious object in the universe. The joy in that little girl’s heart has always stayed with us.

Donate now. The Toy Drive Fundraiser ends on December 22.

In person donations can be made at The Clemente Center (107 Suffolk St) on January 5, 2021 from 10am to 4pm.
