Saturday, December 26, 2020 ~ Julio César Rojas López, better known as Tito Rojas “El Gallo Salsero” (The Salsa Rooster) was found dead today in his hometown Humacao.

After spending time with family, Rojas was on his way home when he felt unwell, so he stopped at his cousin’s house where he was found dead on the ground. He was 65 years old.

El Gallo Salsero was a Puerto Rican salsa romantica singer who worked with FANIA in the 1970s, Puerto Rican Power in the 1980s and went solo in the 1990s. His biggest solo hit was “Por Propio Derecho” in 1995.

Rojas kept entertaining the people right up to the end. This is his last performance from two days ago, Christmas Eve 2020.

We love you man. The Puerto Rican soul you shared over the years keeps moving us. We’re going to smoke a cigar, pour a shot of rum for you and dance all night. Dios te bendiga.
