Weaving Together: Yours & Ours FOR Them by Women Together

Storage space in New York is a commodity. Every season millions of women perform the ritual of making room for new seasons fashion or storing clothes from one season to another. There are always some clothes, accessories, shoes, and bags that need to be purged or given to others.

Women Together converts this routine activity, into an Investment Fund to benefit thousands of artisans located in vulnerable communities in developing countries by providing training, supplies, and resources.

On this occasion, the funds are earmarked for the continued training and support of communities located in Colombia, Dominican Republic and Mexico. This program works to preserve and foster centuries-old yet vital artisanal crafts in vulnerable communities, honoring local heritage, and creating new opportunities for growth and development.

On November 8, 2018 at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, Women Together USA will hold a special sale of donated fashion items from celebrities, socialites and famous designers in addition to items donated by national and international brands joining in this initiative to assist in the success of the event.

Alongside these items, MERAKIU, a global network of women entrepreneurs will join us with products from emerging designers and artisans, along with the following brands:

The event will present the collections from Weaving Together Mexico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.

Women Together will also preview the upcoming exhibit, El Mundo en un Hilo (The World on a Thread) before its official launch at the Centro Artesano, scheduled for January 2019 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia to showcase the craft’s heritage of beads within a society’s cultural identity.
