John Eliot Gardiner conducts the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists in Claudio Monteverdi’s opera The Return of Ulysses as part of the Monteverdi: The Birth of Opera series.

It tells the story of Poppea’s evolution from Roman Emperor Nero’s mistress to his queen.
