Zoe Saldana is an accomplished actress who has evolved into a producer. She has a long resume. These are some of the highlights.

Saldana was born in Passaic, New Jersey in 1978, but was raised in Jackson Heights and the Dominican Republic. As a teenager she trained as a ballerina. Dance training gave Saldana an athleticism that would serve her career well.

Saldana’s first significant acting work came in a 1999 episode of Law & Order. Her first film role was playing a young ballerina in Crossroads (2000).

Soldana starred as alien hunter Neytiri in Avatar
Saldana’s breakout came in 2009 when she played Nyota Uhura in J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek, and starred as alien hunter and love interest Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar, the highest-grossing movie of all time. She is the face of Avatar.
