The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gave women the right to vote. Ratified on August 18, 1920, it prohibits denying the right to vote on the basis of sex. However, voter suppression, some of it violent, still prevented many women of color from voting. This problem continues in the United States today, more than 100 years later, and is even coming back in 2025.
If we don’t use your rights, we are in danger of losing them. Be the change, register to vote. And given the rise in voter suppression with people of color being removed from voter rolls without reason or notification, we have to check our registration every year before the voting deadlines. You can also check your registration at vote.org
Registering to vote takes two minutes. Do it for your family. Do it for our children.
Each One, Teach One
After you register, why not show a friend or family member how they can register. We move forward together, but the American way is by voting.
