The company is in residence at New York City Center. The Fall season is your first chance to see the season’s premieres. You get another chance in the summer season at Lincoln Center.

About Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is the legacy of African-American choreographer and activist Alvin Ailey (Rogers, Texas, 1931 – 1989). The company started in 1958 on the stage at the 92nd Street Y’s Kaufman Concert Hall in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
1960’s classic “Revelations” is based on Ailey’s memories of his childhood in rural Texas. It has remained in performance since its premiere and is now the most widely-seen modern dance work in the world.
The Company is known as America’s “Cultural Ambassador to the World” for their international touring as representatives of the United States since the 1960s.
Company dancers with a Latin heritage include Linda Celeste Sims (Nicaraguan/Dominican), Belen Pereyra (Dominican), Danica Paulos, and Chalvar Monteiro.

The Alvin Ailey Lincoln Center Spring 2016 Season was June 8-19, 2016
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater continued to expand its repertory with three world premieres and two new productions supported by some classic Ailey.
World premieres included Mauro Bigonzetti’s “Deep.” Bigonzetti is the new director of the La Scala Ballet in Milan, Italy.
Returning from 2015 was Ronald K. Browns “Open Door,” set to music by Arturo O’Farrill & the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra. Also returning was Paul Taylor’s “Piazzolla Caldera,” a modern dance interpretation of Argentine Tango.
