Annabella Gonzalez

Gonzalez is a Mexican-born, New York-based choreographer who has been surprising audiences for 41 years. Her training in Mexico, the U.S. and Europe collects many great dance traditions.

Through Annabella Gonzalez Dance Theater, she brings that Latin flavor and sense of humor to modern dance with a repertory of almost 70 pieces.

“Annabella Gonzalez approaches the artifacts of everyday life in somewhat the way that Paul Klee looked at Machines”
Jennifer Downing, The New York Times

The evening presents three world premieres by Annabella, an AGDT alumni, and special guest choreographers.

Annabella’s Midnight Blue is a vibrant, colorful group work set to music by noted NYC composer Stefania de Kenessey.

Elégie is a duet by Company member Shannon Maynor set to music by Fauré.

The Golden Time is a trio choreographed by AGDT alumnus Christopher Amato, set to Vivaldi music.

Repertory favorites include Annabella’s Flecha, a rhythmic trio with pulsating music by Spanish composer Elisenda Fábregas; and ¡Caballeros! by Marcos de Jesus.
