This year’s parade is dedicated to the memory of beloved merenguero Rubby Perez who we lost in the 2025 Jet Set nightclub collapse. In the RD, it was a national tragedy like 9/11 in the States.
The parade is produced by Felipe Febles. Roberto Rojas is Grand Marshal. Carmelo is Parade King.
Invited artists include: Los Toros Band, Camboy Estevez, Ebenezer Guerra, Vickiana, Marino Arias, Duro Mambo, Mey Feliz, Yuly Fabián, Jesus Brillo, Yk Its Junna, Katherin Vargas, and more.
One of the parade promos uses the famous palo song “Los Olivos” sung by Enerolisa Nuñez. We should remember her too. We were planning to meet her, but she passed on February 28, 2026. Dominicans promote merengue, bachata, and dembow to the world, but palo is arguably our deepest root music, and she was the living voice of palo. “Yo soy Ogun Balenyo, y vengo de los Olivos. A darle la mano al enfermo y a levantar los caidos.” Some Dominicans greet with “Nsala Malekum.” Always thought it was Arabic. It is derived from Arab traders on coastal Africa, but is actually a Kikongo greeting. Roots. Raices. Orgullo. Dominicana.

Like Carnival, the parade is actually a long series of community events. To really enjoy it, get involved, and join one of the comparsas (marching groups). Dominicans are some of the warmest, friendliest people on Earth, good friends to have in New York City.
The parade is dedicated to the Dominican Republic founding fathers: Duarte, Sanchez, and Mella.
Edward Saldaña, BlueLoft CEO and Dominican House Fest founder, is Grand Marshal. Haraca Kiko is the Parade King. Lawyer and presenter Julieta Tejada is the madrina.
2025 Queen Coronation
There are several Parade Queen Candidate presentations, starting in October, the year before the Parade. This is a serious talent competition that also teaches children about our heritage culture!
