Buika is an African-Spanish singer-songwriter with a giant voice who sprinkles hints of her flamenco roots into her own style of Latin jazz, soul and Afrobeat.
Spain has always been a crossroads of the world and Buika is one of the best representatives of that. The blend of Spanish flamenco with African rhythms is natural. Spain and Africa are only nine miles (14km) apart. In colonial Cuba, the Spanish and African blend gave us Latin music. Buika’s own Spanish and African blend is absolutely mesmerizing.

María Concepción Balboa Buika (Concha Buika) was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on May 11, 1972. That’s one of the islands in the Spanish Mediterranean. Her parents are from Equatorial Guinea on the West African coast. She currently lives in Miami.
Buika is an amazing torch singer. She sings in many languages and blends her Spanish and African roots with American Jazz and Soul. It is striking to hear Buika sing to you in African accented English and then hit you with a Flamenco cry.
