Daniel Martínez Cadavid

Daniel Martinez Cadavid is an Argentine Tango choreographer, dancer, and teacher from Medellín, Colombia.

Medellín Has Tango Culture

Tango culture is part of Medellín culture. People even speak Spanish with the Castellano accent of Buenos Aires.

Paisas (people of Medellín) spend lots of time drinking and singing Tangos together. Many develop an encyclopedic knowledge of Tango songs. We collect Tangos like baseball cards.

We may not even dance, but we like to sit and watch Tango performances.

Colombian Tango is a little different from Argentine Tango. Argentine Tango is sad, Colombian Tango is happy. One of the joys of dancing with a Colombian is that they may sing to you (even though the codes of Tango prohibit this).

7-Time Tango Champion

Martinez Cadavid is a 7-time Tango champion . He brings a level of Tango musicality and movement that we only see in the very best Argentines, like the Zotto brothers or Gabriel Missé.

Martinez is the 2016 Salon Tango champion, and 2015 Men’s couple champion at the Manizales Festival in Colombia.

In 2014, Martinez was champion choreographer of Salon Tango Groups at the World Tango Championships in Medellín. He was also Stage Tango champion at the Manizales Festival in Colombia.

Martinez was 2013 and 2012 Salon Tango champion at the World Tango Championship in Medellín, Colombia.

Martinez was the winner of the Tango World Championship in Japan in 2005.
