Colombia’s independence celebration gets its biggest New York stage of the year when the Festival Independencia Orgullo Colombiano returns to Queens for its 14th edition, marking 216 years since Colombia declared independence with a full day of vallenato, música popular, and tropical rhythms at the New York Hall of Science.

This year’s lineup runs under the theme “Un solo ritmo, un solo corazón: ¡Sí, Sí Colombia!” and brings together Jhonny Rivera, Jenny López, Anddy Caicedo, Dubán Bayona, Ricardo Stevan, El Arriero del Café, Mr. Sax, DJ Pereira, and Rayna across a program that moves through vallenato, música popular, and d tropical sounds.
Beyond the stage, the festival lays out a full day built around Colombian gastronomy, local vendors, and cultural exhibits meant for every generation in the family. Hosts Óscar Herrera and Martha Isabel Ramírez lead the day alongside DJs John G and DJ Taz, with festival direction by Alexandra Aristizábal.
This year’s edition arrives inside the World Cup summer, and organizers are giving away two round-trip flights to the winning country plus $2,000 in travel expenses, courtesy of Prexco.
The day also features Ana Sofía Ortiz Jiménez, this year’s Reina Embajadora FIOC, and María Paz Chamorro Mora, Miss Teen Universo Colombia 2026, ahead of her run at the international competition in India.
