The world celebrates International Tango Day or World Tango Day on December 11, the birthday of iconic tango singer, French Argentine Carlos Gardel.
In Argentina, it’s Día Nacional del Tango (National Tango Day).
Tango is an African folkloric dance of Uruguay and Argentina that is based on Danzón, the Cuban form of French contradance or English country dance. Outside Cuba it was called La Habanera, meaning the way people dance in La Habana (Havana).
