Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) Brings Alt Rock Fusions to NYC

Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) 2024 is an annual gathering of industry leaders and rising talent with several showcases in New York City.

This is very much a how-to conference. If you are early in your career or just starting out, this is a great conference for you because it allows you to learn from others and connect with people already in the industry.

The Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) 2024 is a music industry conference at the Intercontinental Times Square with showcases around town; from July 9-13, 2024.

2024 takeaways include: Latin music dominates global music, a lot of Latin music today is actually Latin Alternative, and women artists are dominating the creative scene.

LAMC Showcases

Tuesday, July 9

East Village, Manhattan

The Latin Alternative Music Conference Sony Music Latin Showcase features Venezuelan pop singer Nella Rojas, Dominican rapper J Noa, Argentine Cuban Haitian Chilean girl band Darumas, Mexican singer miguel cornejo, and Marcelo Rubio at DROM in Manhattan’s East Village; on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 8pm-12midnight. Limited public availability. 🇦🇷 🇨🇺 🇩🇴 🇭🇹 🇲🇽 🇻🇪

J Noa is a great rapper from Capotillo 42, the toughest barrio in the Dominican Republic and cradle of dem bow (Dominican reggaeton). She is more rap than dem bow and more about social consciousness than glorifying thug life. But is still the Cuarenta y Dos with a fierce rap. Wouldn’t want my kids talking like her, but J Noa is real. She’s great and we think she is going to go big time.

Wednesday, July 10

Central Park, Manhattan

The Latin Alternative Music Conference and SummerStage present Colombian singer Fonseca, Spanish Romani flamenco singer Israel Fernández, Mexican singer Bruses, and a DJ set by Hong Kong salsa specialist Gia Fu; at Rumsey Playfield in Manhattan’s Central Park; on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 6-10pm. FREE. 🇨🇴 🇭🇰 🇲🇽 🇪🇸

The inclusion of Chinese DJ and producer Gia Fu is important. It’s awesome when someone from one culture immerses themselves in another culture and gets it like a local. One of the outcomes of pandemic violence and George Floyd’s 2020 lynching was a broader recognition by people of color in the United States that whether you are Black, Indigenous, Latin, or Asian, we are all mistreated the same. So organizations that used to have a particular ethnic focus are opening their embrace to include all people of color. This is good. Diversity is a sign of a healthy ecosystem. Gia Vaya!

East Village, Manhattan

The Latin Alternative Music Conference Sounds from Spain Showcase presents: Maikel Delacale, Elane, IZARO, and Maruja Limón; at Drom in Manhattan’s East Village; on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 8pm – 12am. 🇪🇸

Thursday, July 11

Hudson Square (West SoHo), Manhattan

The Latin Alternative Music Conference Acoustic Showcase presents: Spanish guitarist Twanguero, Colombian singer Jona Camacho, Puerto Rican singer Nohemy, Cuban jazz singer Daymé Arocena, Peruvian singer Sebastian Llosa, Venezuelan Henry D’Arthenay, Cheo, and Dominican rapper Lismar; at SOB’s Sounds of Brazil in Hudson Square (West Soho, Manhattan); on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 6-8:30pm. LAMC registrants only. 🇨🇴 🇨🇺 🇩🇴 🇵🇪 🇵🇷 🇪🇸 🇻🇪

Friday, July 12

East Village, Manhattan

The Latin Alternative Music Conference Latina Showcase features Akapellah (Venezuelan rap), Bellakath (Mexican reggaeton), Karina Sofia (Mexican), and Ovi; at Drom night club in Manhattan’s East Village; on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 8pm – 12:15am. Limited public availability. 🇲🇽 🇻🇪

East Village, Manhattan

The Latin Alternative Music Conference Indie Showcase presents: Mexican disco band Midnight Generation, Panamanian pop singer Chicocurlyhead, Mexican singer Bratty, and Mexican reggaetonero NSQK; at Drom in Manhattan’s East Village; on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 8pm – 12midnight. Limited public availability. 🇲🇽 🇵🇦

Saturday, July 13

The Latin Alternative Music Conference prapper BRESH (Drilliguria & Zona4gang) for Central Park SummerStage at Rumsey Playfield; on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 6-10pm. FREE. 🇮🇹

LAMC gets the broadest concept of Latin which includes Italians, the original Latins. BRESH is a rapper, so that’s the Black and Latin Bronx anyway. Freestyle rap is Puerto Rican and Italian from Brooklyn.

Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC)

Latin Alternative is a fusion of rock with many different musical influences.

It’s important because rock and roll itself is one of the musics that swept the world. Jazz went global in the 1920s-30s. Rock did in the 1950s-60s. Hip hop went global in the 1970s-80s. Reggaeton did in the 2000s-2010s.

In a post-modern world where the internet provides access to everything-all-the-time,
