Lena Burke, Xiomara Laugart and special guest Malena Burke play Hostos Center in Mott Haven, The Bronx on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 7:30 pm.

They are great Cuban singers in their own right, but also channel the musical identities of two of the most legendary singers of Cuba: Celia Cruz and La Lupe.

Lena Burke

Lena Burke is a Cuban Latin-Grammy nominated singer-songwriter and actress from one of Cuba’s leading musical families. She is the daughter of cabaret singer Malena Burke and the granddaughter of Bolero legend Elena Burke.

Lena’s mom Malena joins the show as a special guest.

Lena

Lena made her own mark starting in 2005 in her hit single Tu Corazón with Alejandro Sanz from her debut album Lena.

La mala

In 2008, Lena starred in La mala, a biopic about Cuban Salsa legend La Lupe.

Alex, Jorge y Lena

Lena was joined by Spanish singer Alex Ubago and Colombian Jorge Villamizar on this 2010 album. It produced the single, Estar Contigo.

Xiomara Laugart

Xiomara Laugart is a famous Cuban nueva trova (Cuban folk music) singer. She was born in Guantanamo, the eastern province of Cuba where a lot of Cuban music comes from.

Nobody sings Guantanamera like Xiomara. She is a woman of Guantanamo just like the song title. When you hear Guantanamera in the airport in Havana, that’s Xiomara welcoming you to Cuba.

In 2007, Xiomara starred as Celia Cruz in the Off-Broadway musical Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz.
