Luca Campigotto is an Italian photographer known for his large scale night photographs. He was born in Venice in 1962, but lives and works in Milan and New York City.
A tireless world traveler, Campigotto’s photographs of natural vistas and urban environments provoke equal majesty. His composition is clean and he seems to pull the light out of his subjects. The large-format clarity of Campigotto’s vision makes you look.
Campigotto has exhibited three times at the Venice Biennale and has published nine books of his work.
Luca Campigotto ‘Nocturne’
The exhibition is at Laurence Miller Gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan from Thursday, January 11 – February 24, 2018.
Shooting urban environments at night when they are empty of people creates an eerie quality. Campigotto has a degree in History. He chooses the cities he photographs for their near mythical presence, giving his own images a heightened sense of magic.
