Mariachi Flor de Toloache is NYC’s first and only all-woman mariachi band. The band, founded in 2008, breaks the mold with traditional covers and their own compositions.
Mariachi Flor de Toloache are NYC’s Mariachi Kings
Founder and violin-player Mireya Ramos carries on the Mariachi traditions she learned from her father. Mireya is Mexican-Dominican and grew up in Puerto Rico. Co-director Shae Fiol plays vihuela (a 19th-century Mexican guitar) and brings more Latin pop sensibilities to the band’s sound.
And how about this, the band is multicultural. It’s members have Mexican, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban, Australian, Colombian, German, Italian and U.S. American heritages.
This band strikes a great balance between old and new, Mexico and the world. The Toloache flower is used to make love potions in Mexico. We are pretty sure you will love Mariachi Flor de Toloache.
